Utrecht overview

Historical and funny-sounding Utrecht (if you try to say it like a local) is one of Holland’s largest and most altogether cities. It sits in the centre of small country on flatter than flat land with lofty churches making up for its lack of altitude. The 100-metre-plus Dom Tower is the main sight and a must for views over the town, while Utrecht also has its fair share of impressive museums. If you are into churches and cathedrals, Utrecht is definitely for you, plus it also boasts one or two fun parks. Although nothing is really far away in Holland, Utrecht is almost within cycling distance of Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam and has a good atmosphere any time of year for those staying on.
